Eid-ul-Fitr Message: A Call for Simplicity, Solidarity, and Global Justice
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The blessed month of Ramadan— a month of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation—has come to an end, and we are now entering the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr. However, this year, Eid arrives against a backdrop of deep anguish and sorrow, as the Muslim Ummah is grieving the tragic martyrdom of its great leader, the Guardian of the Muslim community, the Grand Ayatollah Imam Syed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
Likewise, the martyrdom of other distinguished personalities and innocent, defenseless students as a result of attacks by the usurping Israel and the so-called “Great Satan,” America, along with the continued cruelty and brutality during this sacred month, stands as a dark stain on the face of humanity and a clear act of aggression. This tragedy is not confined to any one nation or region; rather, it is a deep wound inflicted upon the heart of the entire Muslim Ummah.
At such a sensitive and decisive moment, raising one’s voice against oppression, standing with the oppressed, and supporting truth and justice are religious, moral, and human responsibilities upon every person of faith and conscience.
Therefore, we humbly appeal to the entire Muslim Ummah to observe this blessed Eid with simplicity, dignity, and a deep sense of responsibility. Let the gatherings of Eid prayer not remain mere formal rituals; rather, they should become effective platforms for expressing solidarity with the oppressed and declaring disassociation from the oppressors. In the Eid sermons, special prayers should be arranged for the oppressed of the world, and voices of protest should be raised against tyrannical forces—so that, on one hand, practical solidarity with the oppressed is demonstrated, and on the other, a clear message is sent to the forces of falsehood that the Ummah is awake and will not remain silent in the face of oppression.
Today, there is a pressing need to understand the true message of Eid. It is not merely about joy, new clothes, and outward celebration; rather, it is a practical manifestation of piety, sacrifice, brotherhood, and collective responsibility. We must include the deprived, the needy, and the oppressed around us in our happiness, for the true spirit of Islam is that no human being should remain alone, hungry, or helpless.
Similarly, promoting unity and solidarity within the Muslim Ummah is one of the most urgent needs of our time. Division, Disagreement, and internal conflict only strengthen the enemies of Islam, whereas unity, awareness, and vigilance are the true sources of the Ummah’s strength. At every level, we must fulfill our religious and human responsibilities with wisdom, patience, and insight.
We must pledge that the true joy of Eid can only be realized when every oppressed person in the world attains peace, justice, and dignity. Until oppression is eradicated, our responsibility does not end. We pray to the Lord of the worlds to elevate the ranks of the martyrs, grant patience and steadfastness to the oppressed, give healing to the sick, freedom to the captives, and bless the Muslim Ummah with unity, insight, and the strength to act. May Allah enable us to truly implement the message of Eid in our lives.
In particular, it must be noted that in Iran, hospitals, schools, and other welfare institutions that have been destroyed due to aggression urgently require reconstruction. It is our responsibility to extend practical support and to take the lead in financial assistance, so that we may be counted among the righteous and the virtuous in the sight of Allah.
And peace be upon those who follow guidance.
