Shia-Sunni Clerics Unite to Pay Tributes at Day-Long Conference on Martyr Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at Ayatollah Yousuf Imambargah Bemina

Budgam, Bemina, May 17, 2026:
All Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian, under the leadership of Aga Syed Mohammad Hadi, organised a day-long conference on Shaheed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at Ayatollah Yousuf Imambargah, Bemina.
The conference witnessed participation from prominent Shia and Sunni religious scholars, poets, journalists and academicians, who paid rich tributes to the late leader for his religious, political and intellectual contributions to the Muslim world.
Among the prominent speakers was Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who paid glowing tributes to Ayatollah Khamenei and remembered his role in advocating justice, dignity and the rights of oppressed people across the world.
Mirwaiz said the late Iranian leader’s contributions towards strengthening Islamic unity and promoting moral values would be remembered for generations. He stressed the need to address pressing issues concerning Imambargahs and Masjids, describing them as vital platforms for social and community guidance. “These institutions should not remain confined only to religious activities and must not provide space to those who sow discord within the Muslim community,” he said.
Highlighting the atmosphere of unity witnessed after the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, Mirwaiz said people had demonstrated to the world the true spirit of Muslim unity. He also urged the youth to preserve their culture and language, which he said were gradually vanishing due to several factors.
“Iran supported us morally, politically and diplomatically. Martyr Ayatollah Ali Khamenei spoke for us when we needed it the most. We must uphold his teachings and sayings in letter and spirit,” Mirwaiz added.
He further appealed to the authorities ahead of Eid to release all political prisoners and youths lodged in different jails across India.
Speaking on the occasion, Kashmir’s Grand Mufti, Nasir-ul-Islam, described Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a symbol of unity and resistance against arrogant powers. “As Muharram is round the corner, all Shias and Sunnis across the Valley should publicise his messages of unity in towns and cities,” he stressed.
Remembering the contributions of Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei to the Muslim Ummah, religious cleric Molvi Masroor Ansari said, “Physically, we cannot fight the US and Israel, but Kashmir has fought by sending aid and extending vibrant support.” He added that Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom would remain a living example for generations to come.
He further said Muslims around the world must pay allegiance to the current Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mujtaba Khamenei. “Khamenei’s martyrdom changed decades-old perspectives. Anti-Shia elements have now turned towards Shias,” he added.
Renowned Ahl-e-Sunnat scholar Dr. Sameer Siddiqui stressed that Imam Khamenei’s martyrdom had united all schools of thought.
Religious scholars and poets also recited verses and spoke about the significance of sacrifice, faith and resistance in contemporary times. The participants offered special prayers for peace, unity and stability in the Muslim world.
